Sex & The City 2 rawkxx!

15 June 2010

Something free, something tasty, something happy and it really made my day~ even cancelled out a dash of annoyance in between.. Well, what am i talking about you say? The something free was this:

Free tix to watch Sex and the City 2 at GSC Mid Valley!!! Whee~~ and i got to watch it 2 days before it was due to start showing in Malaysia as well, all thanks to the tiny little obscure coupon in The Star newspaper's Clove section :D (Thx mum for posting it to me, xoxo~)

Ticket redemption began at 8pm and the movie screening was at 9.30pm, so met birthday girl Lilian after work to go join the queue...

Was at this place two nights in a row.. teehee~

The queue was quite orderly at first, and we were considered at the front part of the queue.. but the stupid cinema employees started to try to move the queue further in, and in the confusion, many ppl at the back took the opportunity to squeeze to the front, and those at the front of the queue found themselves at the back instead, us included.. man was i pissed off.. luckily the b'day girl didnt mind..

Anyways, tat little bit of annoyance didnt stop us from successfully reddeming our tickets, and we ended upwith 2 tickets each cos we had 2 coupons.. I actually feel rather guilty abt tat.. but nobody asked us for them.. so we ended up with J7,8 and J13,14.. centre seats in the centre row, yippee! After that we were starving, so picked a place nearby for dinner, Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant~ :)

Ordered the set meal, 19.90 for Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (mixed vege rice and with chicken in a stone bowl) which came with the works: Soup, banchan (re: Kimchi Haru post) and this giant mug of refillable tea... :D very worth it in my opinion~

Banchan!!

Yummy kimchi, vege, pancake, pickled cucumber, fishcake and mashed potato + coleslaw :)

Very very scrumptious Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap~

All mixed up and ready to be eaten :):):)

Dumplings~~ filling tastes like xiao long bao.. yums~

The set came with free dessert too!!

We had a great time there, mainly cos when we first went in, there werent many customers annd the waiters gave us plenty of attention, and we spent the time chatting away abt everything under the sun~

Taking a pic of her Birthday "Cake"~

hehehehe... custard & red bean mochi... next time gonna get one for myself to try :P

Suddenly noticed these funny tube things hanging from the ceiling, and i was thinking to myself that the decor was a little weird...

Rupanya its for the smoke coming from the BBQ.. Great, hate the smell that lingers on you after a BBQ meal!

All too soon, it was movie time! Loved our centre seats.. in the end, gave our J7 and J8 seats to other ppl :) I actually enjoyed the movie a lot even though its gotten some not so good reviews.. but what the heck, we were so entertained by it, in fact, we were laughing all the way..

I actually agree with many ppl out there that Sarah Jessica Parker isnt very pretty to look at.. (sometimes, from certain angles, she reminds me a little of the witch from snow white).. especially during the gay wedding scenes.. @.@~ in fact, adding in Carrie Bradshaw's behaviour during this movie, she definitely wasnt the protagonist for me...

I actually liked the cute clueless Charlotte and 'Fun in Abu Dhabi' Miranda a lot more.. hehhehe... I think everyone would love the scene where Charlotte and Miranda exchange mum stories and end up getting each other tipsy.. Kim Cattrall is also hilarious as age-defying Samantha Jones, with her hormone creams and yams and her wardrobe choices in the middle-east, hahahhaha.. Spiky, Killer shoulders anyone? re: pic below~

Anyways, a true girly movie through and through.. with topics like motherhood, menopause, female bonding etc.. and you get to see nice bags and shoes and baubles and some pretty ok clothes.. but there were sooo many old uncles in the coupon redemption queue.. weird.... (cos of the word Sex in the title??)

2 and a half hours of entertainment all for free!!! So glad i got to watch SATC 2 before the rest of Malaysia, hehehehehe~~~

Late V-day at The Curve~

During my 'extra' long weekend on MC and my spectacular fever, i went to The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.. To do what? you ask, well, to sing karaoke... yeah, with my scratchy throat and manly voice and all.. didnt wanna spoil our eagerly anticipated plans, and i really wanted to go.. so die oso must ngeh ngeh sing :P

Had McDonald's hotcakes and girly chat for breakfast:) then off to Redbox~

Luckily it was only a two-hour package, cos my voice was barely holding up after that.. but from the following photos, you can see that i was still hogging the microphone all the way.. hee~

The waiter who took this epic fail lah.. can see all my wads of tissue paper and mugs of hot lemon coke.. @.@~

With lovely Lilian, who's grinning like the cheshire cat here.. muahahaha

For the record, i could see the lyrics quite clearly, just the font for the menu when choosing songs is a teeny bit tiny... :P but i like this pic a lot anyway~

V=Victory, after conquering 2-hours of singing while coughing away :S

Before i start off with the next part, i have to say this: I love you Michelle! hehehe.. cos if it wasn't for you, i wouldnt have fulfilled one of my wishes, which was to watch Valentine's Day at the cinema.. Incidentally, i think the day we watched it was the last day it was screening already, cos there was only one show at 1pm... and Michelle had the brainwave to go check the Cathay website the previous night.. *hugs and kisses* for you here..

One of the best movies i've watched in awhile~~

Im really really glad i didnt miss this movie.. it was funny, sweet, touching, real, soppy, heartbreaking all at the same time.. and the entire cast was given a chance to shine with their individual stories..

I especially loved Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher in this.. JG as the girl in love with a two-timing doctor and AK as the florist on the busiest day for the floral industry who is dumped by his high achiever girlfriend on Valentine's Day.. the grandma and grandma couple was cute too.. and Anne Hathaway's Russian accent, hehehehe... (IMHO, the 2 Taylor's dont really match.. O.0..), but with all the laughing, i still managed to get all teary eyed at the end, and all 3 of us came out from the cinema feeling very happy and satisfied :D

I also found my new favourite song by Taylor Swift off the soundtrack- Today Was A Fairytale~ :):)

Zen Cafe and Sherlock Holmes~

I'll be honest here and admit that i still keep in touch with certain someone and Jan 3rd being his birthday, we decided to meet up so that i could belanja him some cake... Destination was Sunway Pyramid for food at Zen Cafe and a movie afterwards...

Not bad, set lunch got grapetiser or appletiser :)

Chicken in a bowl.. it was described as pie..
wat the heck, only a bun and chicken stew >.<
Luckily the bun was nice, if not.....

Fish in a bowl.. his.. i prefer chicken~

Wats a meal at Zen Cafe (or Secret Recipe for that matter) without dessert?!

My Warm Chocolate Gateaux with choc sauce filling, didnt choose raspberry.. Sinful!

pistachio something :)

Me & Him~

Watched Sherlock Holmes, which i'd wanted to watch ever since i saw the trailer ages ago :) I officially deem it a must-watch! :) but perhaps it wont interest ppl who either dont know about Sherlock Holmes, 221B Baker Street or his crime-solving abilities, hehe..

I personally like movies with smart jokes.. and the mystery was quite interesting.. About a man who came alive again after he was supposedly executed and starts killing prominent people in London.. Exciting~ :) Some parts were a little eerie as well, but I like how they made the whole mystery very logical.. couldnt find any loopholes this time :)

Robert Downey Jr-A very convincing Sherlock Holmes.. Cant wait for Iron Man 2!

In this adaptation, I actually liked Watson lots more than Holmes.. So two thumbs up for Jude Law as well~

verdict?
Must Watch! **** 4 stars~ :):)

PS: Watch out for the bulldog in the movie.. great actor.. hahahaha..

A Christmas Carol 3D

The day after my birthday, went to watch A Christmas Carol 3D with mummy~ The movie was so-so only maybe cos I already know how the story goes. Basically, this very stingy, grumpy, miserly old man, Ebenizer Scrooge is visited by 3 spirits on x'mas eve, and he wakes up the next morning a changed man, being good and kind to everyone.. Incredible huh..

Anyways, i came back aching all over (but not as serious as what happened after I watched Avatar 3D for a whopping 3 hours), i suspect cos i kept dodging the 3D stuff falling from the screen.. hahahha.. For me, the movie was half a horror movie already.. I'd heard someone saying this before the movie started and it turned out to be true.. The ghost of christmas future and Marley's ghost were both damn eerie.. @.@~ or maybe its just me.. I also found the ghost of christmas present damn annoying >.<

I nearly fell asleep at some parts, which is extrememly rare for me... so dont worry if you missed the movie.. hahaha...

Looking extremely 'yeng' in our glasses... ^^

Damn expensive glasses as well.. RM150 if you break or lose them..for such a price, you would expect them to be more comfortable lor.. sigh.. mine kept slipping down my nose >.< but one thing abt 3D, it makes you feel like watching every movie after seeing he trailer in 3D.. The trailers made me want to watch Alice in Wonderland, How to train your dragon and Avatar (can cross that off dy, hehe)

So many cons for waatching 3D movies.. my verdict is: watch at your own risk lor :P

LUNA NUEVA!! :)

This has been a draft since ages ago and I have to sit my ass down and blog it right now or it'll be stale stale news pretty soon...

Finally watched a movie i'd been waiting for 6 months for on 27th Nov -- New Moon~*squeals*

For once, being kiasu is a good thing, cos I booked my ticket the week before, and lucky that I did so too, cos when I wanted to book an extra ticket for the same show the next night, guess what?! Not only was there suddenly another showing at the same time slot (that wasnt there the day before..), but both shows were too full for reservations... O.o... and I was watching at the cinema that the least ppl go to as well..

Lucky I booked early, cos I got to sit right in the centre.. Excellent view of the screen :D

Erm, my thoughts on the movie?? (that I have watched twice, btw >.<) Edward looked nicer in the first film... :) and you can see Jacob shivering in the rain if you look closely enough, hehe... My favourite scene was the one where Victoria is being chased through the woods/ Harry Clearwater has a heart attack/ cliff jumping, i think the music matched perfectly, and made me end up liking that weird song called Hearing Damage.. :) Oh and the part in the beginning with the moon turning dark was nice too..

Honestly, I still prefer the movies to the books, cos theres too much repetition and long-winded parts in the book for me to enjoy it.. Plus you get to see hunky guys with their shirts off in the movie as well... Stupid Malaysian censorship Board tho... If you wan to cut then cut it all out, if not then jus keave everything... whats the sense in cutting a bit and leaving a bit?! Makes no sense at all... and I hope parents/ girlfriends would not bring their uninterested kids/ boyfriends to watch the movie lor.. I saw one father closing his son's eyes everytime a kiss came up (the poor kid finally fell asleep in the end) and lots of guys aking up when the end credits came up and asking their other halves "apa ending?" sigh...

My opinion is that its half good half bad.. some of the dialogue was pretty tedious but some of the scenes looked really nice... so if you're a fan, go watch it or you'll regret, but if you're not, then you're better off watching something else instead of watching then complaining afterwards... :P

with Lilian~

Oh and first time I've been to a 'snowing session' with really fake bubbly/ foamy snow, hahahaha....

I have fallen in love with O' Briens sandwiches on my first try.. Really damn yummy :) and the service is very good as well... or maybe cos there weren't many customers *shrugs* I dunno~

Chicken Triple-decker :)

Crambo Club Shambo (Shambo is the funny bread shaped like an alien spaceship... :D)

Anyways, I wouldnt mind going to O'briens at The Curve again... :):):)

Watching a movie alone~~

Looking forward to many more 'firsts' in my life... Can cross one off the list now tho-- watching a movie in the cinema by myself~ :) So proud of myself that I didnt feel pathetic or lonely, and I really enjoyed the movie very much! The cinema did feel a little too cold tho..

Watched Law Abiding Citizen last Wednesday (cheap tix at GSC :P) Nobody i asked wanted to watch this not very blockbuster movie when there're so many other choices recently and I'd really really wanted to watch this very much ever since I saw the awesome trailer some time ago..

Its basically abt a guy called Clyde whose wife and daughter are killed during a break-in at his home, and when the justice system did not provide the proper punishment to the killer and his accomplice, he decides to take the matter in his own hands by murdering them himself.. The way he kills them is damn smart but quite horrifying at the same time, imagine being cut into pieces while still alive?! >.<

Then, what is even more interesting is that he manages to keep killing government officials who were involved in the sentencing of the 2 criminals while he is actually locked up in jail! Watch it just to marvel at the clever ways that people can be murdered.. O.o~ haha.. but the whole movie is super exciting, I felt so kan cheong throughout... Must watch! Plus I think I lke Gerard Butler (from the movie 300) even more now.. I was wondering how he would be able to show off his muscles in this movie, but don't worry, there is a scene where he is half naked, hehehe.. and is well worth the anticipation... *giggle*

Check out the trailer~

All in all a nice experience, but i'm pretty sure the next time i watch a movie, i'm going to go with someone else besides myself :)

Must Watch: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!

Finally got to watch a movie that is quite new, so that I have a chance to review it before everybody else has watched it already.. :D I don't know whether its biasness or what, but the cinema screen in the Odeon, Liverpool One seems bigger and the sound system better than cinemas in M'sia.. Anyways, I really really enjoyed this movie! Despite the fact that I don't really like Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox, they manage to connect in this movie i think...

If you haven't watched the first movie, i recommend that you do, cos it explains who Sam Whitwicky was and why his descendent (Shia Labeouf) who has the same name, is so important to the Autobots (good transformers, the bad ones are called decepticons).. For a full synopsis, please read this or this, rather lazy to launch into a full explanation, hehe.. oh, if you're wondering who 'the fallen' means, its an old, stupid, Ugly Decepticon :) Personally, all the Decepticons look kind of disgusting.. haha..

Instead, I would rather gush about how good Josh Duhamel looks in here as Major Lennox, a spot of good casting there, John Turturro was also likeable as former agent Simmons.. Megan Fox looks super hot and Shia Labeouf, erm.. is Shia Labeouf.. haha.. but seriously, the movie is action-packed, with funny scenes throughout that will definitely tickle your funnybone.. :) Its also true when people say that you can go and watch it just to glimpse the transformation scenes, truly awesome! The way they do it, it just so smooth and unbelievable.. Also the guy who voices Optimus Prime did a great job, you really feel like looking up to him as a leader, quoting the movie: "If God made man in his likeness, then who made him (Prime)?!" I was so traumatised during the scene where he sacrificed his life to save Sam.. Boohoo..

Its also great that Egypt is the background for this film, how to not be in awe when you are looking at the pyramids?? Watch out for the ancient fighter jet transformer too, really cute scenes.. The only scenes i didn't really like were the ones with the crazy mother, I really felt like she was over-acting a little.. oh, and the scene where Sam almost died-- Cheesy! haha.. Wonder if you'll agree with me after watching.. Overall 2 thumbs up! Many breathtaking scenes and funny lines.. As i said, I really really enjoyed the movie, a lot! :) Hope you would too~ Great soundtrack as well!

Conclusion: I LOVE OPTIMUS PRIME! (and i hate Megatron, haha..)

Title: Transformers- Revenge of the Fallen
Director: Michael Bay (produced by Steven Spielberg)
Main cast: Shia Labeouf (Sam Whitwicky), Megan Fox (Mikaela Banes), Josh Duhamel (Major William Lennox/ eye candy), John Turturro (Seymour Simmons, the guy who got fired in the first movie), Ramon Rodriguez (Leo, Sam's crazy roommate), John Benjamin Hickey (irritating government advisor)..
Rating: 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for me.. Very watchable~

Star Trek 2009!

Whoosh~ I just realised its been a long time since I last posted a movie review.. Well, since the past few movies I watched, most people probably have watched long before me, so I don't think an introduction for them was necessary..

Recognise him?? Nah, you most probably don't, or didn't until very recently.. Don't pretend..

Chris Pine

Haha, to be honest, I couldn't recognise him too, eventhough I've watched 2 films that he was in (Princess diaries 2 and Just my luck).. Anyways, Chris Pine is now known as Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S Enterprise in Star Trek the movie (directed by J. J. Abrams).. Watched the movie on Monday with my mum and bro, haha... and I really, truly enjoyed it!

Maybe cos I don't remember much of the original series and don't know the original story, so I really couldn't find any loopholes in the story (which is very very important) and not knowing what has been changed or retained, also enabled me to watch it with an open mind.. The main attraction is the futuristic setting since everything mostly happens in space, the cast is yummy, with great chemistry and the jokes and action scenes are well-balanced, so nothing to complain about.. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was almost a comedy cos there were quite a few laugh worthy parts~ :D

For a detailed synopsis, please go here.. Cos I'm lazy to summarize such a complex plot.. Just so you don't get confused, the bad guys are from the future, fuming over something that supposedly hasn't happened yet.. and you will see 2 Spocks, one from the present and one from the future so don't scratch your head and wonder whats going on while you are watching k.. :)

I am somewhat prejudiced when choosing movies sometimes, cos I do look at the cast before watching, the Star Trek cast is very likable indeed, even the villain, played by an unrecognisable Eric Bana (from The Hulk), watch out for Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes), John Cho (Harold from Harold and Kumar), Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings), Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) etc etc.. Oh, and I believe most people will love Anton Yelchin's character Chekov whose lines are very memorable.. haha... oh, and the actor who plays George Kirk is gorgeous too, I almost cried when he died, sobs...

My verdict: Go watch it even if you are not a Star Trek fan.. Even if you are, the more reason you should watch it, for a new viewpoint on the story you love so much..

*Just a personal opinion* Do you think John Cho looks like an alien in this picture?? hehehe..
