Azrol's wedding & Great food at Boston Baru Restaurant --> Klang~

Somehow 2010 has been a year for weddings and babies @.@~ and not necessarily in that order *gasp* anyways, i attended a colleague's wedding in May, one of my malay despatch colleagues married our ex-receptionist :D

Since the wedding banquet was at Taman Melati, decided to meet up with some other colleagues at different lrt stations so that we could all go together.. My wedding present to him was shared with my other group members, a gas stove from Khind that doesnt have flames.. O.o.. (new product)~ Frst time i have been to a malay wedding in an air-conditioned hall that looked quite grand, usually ppl just put up canopies by the roadside.. hehe..

Cross-section of the very huge crowd.. ppl just kept coming in, until ppl who had finished eating were asked to vacate the tables~

The main table on the stage.. is it weird to think that the rolled-up napkins look like joss sticks??? @.@~

many makciks & pakciks~ :)

After double helpings of nasi briyani, kari ayam, rendang daging, acar, pulut hitam, etc.. we made our way outside to await the arrival of the newlyweds~

goodie bags and bunga telur~

here they come!!!

like movie stars lah~

pretty bride and handsome groom~ :)

The ear-splitting kompang & drum troupe adding to the merry atmosphere~

After congratulating the couple, we slipped off and i went on to KLCC with Kim, my collegue to check out the Isetan sale.. I got a lovely skirt for only RM39.50, whooppee~~! The lepak-ed till dinnertime to meet Lilian and Mr Soh for dinner..

If you havent heard of Boston Baru Seafood Restaurant in Klang before, open your ears up wide! The food is delicious!!!! but you have to endure a minimum 15 minute wait for a table and another 1 hour wait for your food tho.. cos the place is crazily packed! Better dont go when you're feeling particularly hungry or when you're in a bad mood, hehehhe...

Its super worth it tho, cos the portions are big, the food tasty and fresh and most importantly, the prices are reasonable :):):) When you look at the pictures, bear in mind that we ordered the smallest size of everything cos there was only 3 of us...

Something that appeared at almost every table: Clams in superior stock, very very good.. beware of the chilli padi tho.. I like that the lala were all very fat and juicy and springy :D

So huge and succulent, see???

all the empty shells cos we promptly gobbled it all up! :)

Apparently it's very famous 'dai lok meen' or hokkien cha or hokkien mee, whatever you call it..

giant prawns fried in batter d(O.O)b

I know you're salivating.. muahahha...

and my favourite dish out of the four we ordered.. Mantis prawns in creamy corn sauce.. I am a sucker for sweet corn and with the curry leaves, this is one heavenly dish... aaahhhh.....

YUMMY!!!

I couldnt believe it myself when the bill came and the total was less than RM50.. wish we could have tried more dishes.. i so wanna go again!!! but all i can tell you of the location is tat its on Jalan Kapar, near the Tabung Haji building, so happy food hunting~! :):)

PS: Forgot to share a pic of the bunga telur i got :)

Boston Baru, wait for my second visit!! muahahhaha~

West Side Story Musical~

Whoopee... Did something i've always wanted to experience but never had a chance to up till now.. I have finally watched a musical! Thanks to the lovely Vi Dea who bought and collected the tickets, got the discounts and was also kind enough to pick me up halfway and brought me all the way to Istana Budaya (which i have no idea how to get to) even when i was late~~ xoxoxoxoxoo dearie~~ :)

West Side Story The Musical :)

Ticket bought ages ago~~ :)

All the way up in the upper circle, its so high, we have to take an elevator up~ :*

When we first arrived, we walked right up to a pair of very nice doors and showed the lady at the door our tickets, turns out we had mistakenly tried to enter from the VIP section O.o... For our seats at the Upper Circle, we had to take an elevator to the 3rd floor.. im a real katak di bawah tempurung, now only i know that the theatre seats are labelled like cinema seats and they had ushers to show us the way too :):):)

Outside the VIP area that we tried to barge in through :S with flash~

Without flash~

The balconies remind me of stories where ppl are murdered while enjoying the show in their private boxes @.@~

The live orchestra d(O.O)b loved the music!

Before the show opened.. No pics allowed during the show~

Got to hear our national anthem today after so so long.. It was played at the start of the show, before the curtains went up.. To know more about the plot:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Side_Story_%28film%29#Plot

Basically, its a modern day Romeo & Juliet, with two rival gangs of Americans and Puerto Rican immigrants new to America but the lead characters are called Maria and Tony.. My favourite character however was Anita, the very understanding and strong girlfriend of Bernardo, the head of The Sharks, the Puerto Rican gang eventho she inadvertantly causes the story's not too happy ending.. In my opinion, Maria was a little 'hiao' and kind of courted trouble for herslf by flirting with Tony when she already had a fiance but according to V's opinion, she's 'just innocent' =.= The actress was really crying during the ending scene tho and her singing was fantastic, so kudos to her~

The songs all had meaningful lyrics and you have to listen quite carefully for the jokes, which were quite good.. and the dancing was incredible, cant believe it was all life! All the actors prancing and leaping and running around the stage but no loud breathing whatsoever could be heard, they really make it look so easy, hehe.. My favourite song in the musical was Tonight, where the two leads profess their love for each other.. since no recording was allowed, i'll have to stick the youtube video of the 1961 movie version here for your listening enjoyment, hehehe...

All in all, i enjoyed myself, plus the show was really worth it, 2 hours long (there was a 20 minute intermission in between) only felt sleepy during one song, where the Jets were moaning abt not being able to keep their cool.. according to Vi Dea, its better than Mamma Mia which she watched previously.. but i would prefer to watch something really happy next time if there's the chance, the sound of music?? the king and i?? hairspray?? *greedy* Hopefully can progress to the grand circle next time or even the stalls?? muahahhaha.. a girl can dream~ :P

The entire cast taking a bow at the end~

The cast with the 4 leads in the middle~

the 5 ppl in the front left to right - Riff (leader of the Jets), Anita, Tony, Maria and Bernardo~

Decanter @ PJ Section 17~~

This is from ages ago, obviously.. cos the guy appearing here is currently having the time of his life in the UK.. :* anyways, we met up for dinner sometime before his departure and decided to go somewhere my roommate had told me abt most excitedly (and she is this foodie expert, so since she's been singing praises abt it all the time, should be worth a try~)!

The Decanter at Section 17 is in this corner shoplot in a row of red colour shophouses.. Dont be deceived by its unassuming exterior.. it actually has a website and other branches as well O.o...

The menu is simply a piece of paper.. but the choices are enough for you to rack yr brains over, trying to decide what to order, everything sounds good.. they also have a wide selection of wines, liqueurs, the like.. So i believe it would be a very good place to chill out during weekends.. (I wanna go again!!!)

Table settings.. very orange~

Decanter is actually well-known for its western dishes, but i've recently acquired a taste for local food.. hahahha.. thus, ended up ordering fried rice and stir-fried kailan.. (I also cant believe myself.. =.=) Proves that Decanter can actually cater to both Western food lovers and ppl like me lor.. which is a good thing for the establishment.. hehe..

Him: "Come on silly girl, hurry up and choose a nice, palate-friendly western dish..."
Me: "but i wanna makan nasi and minum teh~~~~ :*"

not a well known dish there, but still tasted good~

Not as nice as some other places that have this dish.. but my fault.. for having weird choices..

Luckily the other person had better choices.. hehe~ but i think we ended up thinking too highly of our appetites...

Soup of the day - Asparagus soup! and a basket of garlic bread... The soup was a winner~ very thick and creamy and something diff from the usual chicken/ mushroom soup :) Garlic bread was the usual garlic bread, but very good together with the soup.. Yums~

The scrumptious cheese chicken chop.. I like how their dishes all come with lots of vege.. makes you feel healthier while eating.. @.@~

We had apple juice and tah tarik respectively.. and i bet you'll be able to guess who had the mamak drink :P well, it was quite cold in there lor.. *defensive* oh, ya.. and i really like the toilets.. didnt bring my camera when i went tho, so no pics :(

Smug over his choice..

im enjoying my rice all the same~ :P

Normal ppl have a budget of ard RM20 but we outdo ourselves :S anyway, the prices for the dishes quite reasonable for the ambience and the service... 15% tax tho!!

Saw something funny when we wanted to get into the car..

His car found its long lost brother.. can imagine them chatting with each other while we were having our meal.. hehehhehe.. BJW 6399 & BJH 9963~ @.@~

Ended up at Tropicana City Mall for Shrek: Forever After! Loved that movie.. Quite a nice way to close the series.. d(O.O)b Two thumbs!!!! (I actually watched it twice, muahahhaha...)~

Oh, the cuteness.. le sigh~

My first ever AGM~

Got to get away from the office for the entire afternoon on 18 May 2010, to do some very fun stuff which was not exactly part of my job scope as well~~ :) After having an early McValue Meal Lunch, 7 of us (i was the only one from my group who got to go, yay~) got into our company's Toyota Innova and were driven to Equatorial Hotel in town for Pacificmas Berhad's Annual General Meeting..

In the car with 2 senior managers from another group~ Cameraman's hand shaking as usual :p

The reason i had to go was because our Share Registrar dept was shorthanded that day cos of the meeting season (not mating, mind you :P) So extra hands were needed to help with the registration.. The previous day, we were already briefed on how to use the special software..

In charge of one of the counters registering proxies and shareholders~ Now very canggih, just key in the identity card number and the status of the person and no. of shares held will appear on the screen, the procedure was to print out the polling form, check the name on the form, make sure the shareholder/ proxy signed the attendance list and then hand back everything together with a sticker to enter the refreshments area~ sounds simple, but when there are many uncles and aunties queuing up waiting for you, there's still a chance to be kelam-kabut at times... :S

Another registration area for Directors, Press members and other guests~

Peeking through the door~

Lots of senior citizens, the youngest person i registered was born in 1970 (also qualifies as an uncle dy) and the oldest registered was born in 1919 @.@~ and as it is with uncles and aunties, there were many weird situations as well, e.g. a uncle refusing to hand over his IC to prevent it from getting dirty, but insisting on giving us his driving license.. my colleague then said afterwards, "wonder how dirty is the driving license, wonder if it will dirty my hand instead?!" and another auntie, coming to register after the AGM started, then announced to us that she would not be going in cos its a waste of time, then promptly plopped onto a sofa to wait for the refreshments to be served O.o....

Luckily no door gifts this time round, cos our seniors told us that all sorts of stuff will happen, cos ppl will go to great lengths when there are door gifts, forged ICs and identities are the norm.. Got to go in and listen while the resolutions were being passed, we'd expected it to end in at least one and a half hours like it did in previous years, but this year was quite fast, everything finished within 40 minutes, then it was refreshments time!

They only had the usual fried rice, meehoon, sandwiches, pastries, spring rolls, fruit cake, etc (which finished in record time)... didnt see anyone bringing out containers to pack food home tho~

Empty rows of seats before the meeting at 3pm~

Nice experience attending the 48th AGM:)

got back to the office by 5pm.. I'd hoped that it could last longer then could go straight home, too bad :( anyways, i think im crazy but i really enjoyed this special task! hope i'll get to go again next time.. (heard some hotels serve really interesting and nice food :P)

Fashion Week @ Midvalley - Island Shop Show~

One weekend quite some time ago, i went to Mid Valley Megamall (practically live half my life there nowadays :S) and it was Fashion Week! So got to see a runway show presented by Island Shop.. Never got the chance to go to high-end fashion shows, so got cincai one to see oso very happy dy~

Replica of a highway smack in the middle of mid valley's centre court~

Woo~ highway to Fashion ^^

looks more like jalan raya than lebuhraya here tho, hehe~

Island Shop's clothes are quite pricey if you didnt know, but i like the simple designs eventho the clothes all look roughly the same in diff colours @.@~ almost all the clothes shown were quite nice... The models too, hehehe.. got six packs to ogle at some more~

Didnt manage to capture the six-pack :(

Simple and classic clothes, basically~

Finale where everyone comes out for a final turn~

A closeup during the finale...

Lazy to type long stories so dug up these photos from weeks ago to remind myself that i love shopping! :):):)
