Europe Trip Day 4: Rhine Valley-Heidelberg-Munich

After gushing about Rhine Valley in my previous post, here's how it actually looks like in the daytime..

pretty pretty pretty~

After breakfast, we were off to Heidelberg.. A place somewhere in Germany to see the ruins of Heidelberg Castle..

Before climbing up the hill to the castle~

Never seen anything like these before~

we climbed and climbed lots and lots and lots of steps.. 314 in fact.. before reaching the top..

Our reward was a fantastic view of the old city~

Heidelberg castle ruins

The ruins look like cardboard props.. haha..

I overheard a tourist guide telling a story abt this keyhole, that the castle's gardens were built in a hurry overnight, and in the dark, the builders made the keyhole upside-down.. I don't quite believe that.. but it could be true.. O.o..

One day, i may finally afford this cool souvenir~ :)

With Carline on some street in Heidelberg town~

Church of the holy spirit

Church interior~

I learnt a German word that day.. hehe..

Lunch!

Group photo before leaving Heidelberg, can see the old bridge in the background~

That same afternoon, we left Heidelberg and rushed off to Munich to be in time for dinner~

Landmark in Munich

Its the BMW headquarters! :)

Taken outside Olympiapark~

Next stop was Marienplatz, the main square in Munich~

Want to guess what building is this?

Its actually the city hall.. The German government must value aesthetics very much.. :)

Time for dinner at a beer garden called Hofbrauhaus am Platzl.. where we had our German sausage meal :D

The famous HB logo~

Cute menu~

Hofbrau Original, Yeah!

Giant, giant mug jug of beer.. :)

This is just one side of the table.. 5 of us shared the beer, and we still failed to finish it.. >.<
The locals were having one beer per person.. we pretty much failed lah..

I had the 4 home-made fried pork sausages..
and they forgot my order.. why does this always happen to me?! :(

After an exceptionally long wait~

Our bill~~

I loved the interior of the place very very much!! It was unbelievable how huge the place was.. and it was packed.. Packed the whole time we were there.. which was about an hour..

famous beer must be locked up..

Outside, the beer garden..

We all love HB~~ :)

That night, we stayed in Comfort Hotel, Munich, which was my most favourite hotel among all those we stayed at during the whole 2 weeks.. The facilities were so good that they even provided breath mints on the pillows for people with morning breath.. haha.. not to mention wireless access in the room itself.. Wish there were Comfort Hotels in every place we went to... sigh~

Finally~ a haircut!

shorter, lighter~ bye bye split ends.. haha...

I Want to Getaway~

Watched 'A Perfect Getaway' at the cinema today with mum.. after a solid 3 months plus of not stepping into a cinema *gasp*

6 strangers
2 killers
no getting away~

Cool tagline but so-so movie.. the first half was kind of boring and the action only really started in the second half, then it got a little exciting... lazy to review.. haha.. see here ~I liked Timothy Olyphant tho.. not only cos his name is so cute, but i likey manly men... haha...

Speaking of lazy.. that's become my new name for myself recently.. Trying to run away from everything i need to do.. can you believe that one week after i've come home, i haven't finished unpacking all my stuff?! >.< lazy to think of where to store my things.. not to mention my job applications.. which really have to be taken care of soon.. arghhhh... lots of other minute tasks that need to be completed as well eg reloading my phone's credit before 30th sept to get my extra 10% of credit, getting a haircut, sorting out my wardrobe etc etc etc..

I guess i'm just really lazy... or.... i might just be hiding from reality... sighhhh.... need to start moving on.... some motivation please??

CaLL Me LaZy~ :D

Europe Trip Day 3: Amsterdam-Luxembourg-Rhine Valley

Day 3 was kind of miserable cos one of the people in my bus realised that they had left their passport and wallet behind in the hotel more than one hour after we hit the road.. So we had to turn back for her to get it... How can someone be so blur?! @.@~ The delay was rather costly for us cos traffic was much heavier by the time we got back on the highway.. In the end, we hardly had time for Luxembourg and only got a glimpse of the gorgeous Rhine Valley cos by the time we arrived it was dark already :( we also lost out on one chinese dinner which got replaced by a pork knuckle meal (our tour leader paid the extra cost, poor guy..)

Our time at Luxembourg was super rushed.. just walked one round in town, took some pictures and went for a toilet break and it was time to get back on the bus already.. Literally 'shoot and run' >.<

The monument of remembrance
A war memorial with a gold lady at the top..

Part of the City Hall and the spires of Notre-Dame cathedral can be seen in the background.. this is not the famous notre-dame which is in Paris, will get to that later.. :) click on the picture to check out the really cool sky!!

The sign above the door says Hotel de Ville and everyone was wondering whether our tour leader got it wrong about the building being the city hall.. (It really is the city hall by the way~)

This is the Grand Ducal Palace, the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg

It seems so easily accessible, haha..

Just one lonely guard outside.. no security threats in Luxembourg??

Kammy and me outside the palace :)

Adolphe Bridge- picture perfect!

Luxembourg flag flying high~

Rush rush rush.. and we were off to the next country- Germany.. had to get to Rhine Valley in time for dinner..

The sky in Germany is always filled with interesting lines and patterns like these..

Quick glimpse of breathtaking Rhine Valley before it got dark..

We had dinner at a place called Panorama Restaurant in Loreley, the famous German pork knuckle dinner.. I think it costs 16 euros per set including soup, main course, rice and dessert..

Table sharers :)

vegetable and pasta soup~

Sauerkraut which is fermented cabbage, hehe.. sour but quite nice..

The thing we were waiting for..

2 people sharing one portion again~

and finally, pudding for dessert..

Spent the night at Express Holiday Inn Hotel which was quite comfy :)

People who visit Germany must not miss out Rhine Valley.. One of the most beautiful places i have seen.. really...
