They are Singaporeans..

Since i'm sick and stuck at home right now, I might as well be nostalgic and remember what I got on my recent trip to our neighbouring country :) Lugged quite a lot of things back, quite literally, cos we just threw everything into my new darling (see below) and dragged it back home.. heavy, heavy, heavy.. until I could barely lift it into the taxi.. *Gasp* how am I going to cope at the airport??? >.<

But don't worry.. after this post, it'll be back to mundane posts abt my simple life.. hahhaha.. So here goes:

Stuffed animals from IKEA.. So cute, I really couldn't resist! I like the blue elephant the best :) and just so I had something to buy.. blame my itchy hands... :P

Tons of clothes! I got about 10 pairs of pants, 1 skirt, 7 tops and a dress from Victoria's Secret, heehee.. courtesy of my cousin.. Happyyyy~ :D

Rubbish from Daiso.. Well the rest was really not worth photographing, little trinkets and rolls of adhesive paper for the kitchen cabinet.. Heart the boy shorts with the little <3<3s to bits, cute yet still super comfy! hahahhahha...

Found my long-lost love.. Been pining for my Blue Baleno umbrella ever since my bf lost it in college, hmph.. I still remember k guy.. After a search spanning more or less 3 states in Malaysia, I finally found a Baleno store stocking umbrellas in S'pore!!! Yay!!! Believe me when I say these lightweight fellows are quite hardy and resistant to wind and rain.. My last one lasted me 4 years until it went missing~

My new darling: Pink/Maroon/Deep Red (whichever you prefer) Crocodile luggage! To stuff my rubbish in when I leave for UK... There are enough compartments for me-the multiple bag compartment lover.. So hopefully it can hold as much as it should *crossing fingers*

Last but not least, new toy for me.. Sponsored by my cousins and not forgetting my aunt.. Acer Extensa 4630ZG that can hold 320GB, wakakakkaka.. I know many ppl are against acer laptops, but I can't complain lah, since I didn't pay for it myself.. Hopefully if I treat it well, it well serve me as well lah... Came with a red mouse and an external hardisk that can hold 250GB, so I now have a total of 570GB space to save my stuff.. crazy @.@~

So thats about all.. Finally ended my March and April adventure stories.. Hope you enjoyed reading abt them.. I sure did enjoy them! :D

Why-o-Why?!

Down with the flu Again! Thats how many times this year? 3 or 4? and its only April, what the heck~ To think I didn't fall sick even once last year.. This is humiliating! Must be my brain telling my body to malfunction, to avoid studying.. sobs.. kind of regret applying to sit for the external exams this session, now that I've found out that so many people are waiting till end of the year.. :( As if I haven't got enough things to settle.. Grrr...

New flavour of the week if you haven't noticed:

The Saturdays-Fall

I gave you all you desired
All that you needed, boy I provided
I let you into my head, into my bed
And that's a privilege
I had your backing the answers
You took the dollars, I took the chances
Defended, battled and fought
Cos I really thought you loved me

I don't know where to start or where to stop, no
But I know I am done, I've had enough
So fall, outta my hands, outta my heart and when you hit the ground
You'll be sorry that I'm not around
I'll be watching while you fall outta your mind
Outta your fantasy when you hit the wall
Think of me
I'll be on the top just watching you fall

You said that you were the strong one
I was the girl and I was the young one
I kept your feet on the ground
My head in the realms I had to
You told me you were so grateful
I was with you and I was so faithful
I stood by and all that you said and all that you did
I loved you

I don't know how to act or what to say
But I know I am good, I'll be OK
And you
Fall, outta my hands, outta my heart and when you hit the ground
You'll be sorry that I'm not around
I'll be watching while you fall outta your mind
Outta your fantasy when you hit the wall
Think of me
I'll be on the top just watching you fall

I'll be on the top just watching you fall

Fall, fall, fall, fall, fall, fall

I want you to
Fall, outta my hands, outta my heart and when you hit the ground
You'll be sorry that I'm not around
I'll be watching while you fall outta your mind
Outta your fantasy when you hit the wall
Think of me
I'll be on the top just watching you fall

Outta my hands, outta my heart and when you hit the ground
You'll be sorry that I'm not around
I'll be watching while you fall outta your mind
Outta your fantasy when you hit the wall
Think of me
I'll be on the top just watching you fall

No particular reason, just love the melody.. Oh, and I just can't fall any lower.. I have a sore throat, a cough, lots of phlegm and a man's voice... wakakkakaka... @.@.. Welcome to comment on my taste in music.. or if you have any song suggestions... Cheers!

Singapore: IKEA Tampines

Day 3 at Singapore was spent at:
Tadaa~
If the yellow sign is not clear enough for you, I was at IKEA! More specifically the newer IKEA at Tampines.. Yea, the swedish furniture geniuses made almost everything pretty, including dustbins and kiddy potties.. :D One word of caution tho, its not as fun if you are not planning on decorating/ re-decorating your home.. Cos no chance to play with the measuring tape and stuff.. Mostly we just walked around admiring all the room samples and touching everything, hahahha...

Just to share some pictures... :)

My favourite room.. This charming dining room will make you want to eat at home more often... Sigh... Dunno why they want to have the light so low down tho.. don't want to be sweating at every meal, do I?!

Cute light! In my opinion, it looks like the Pokemon that leaves in trees, Pineco or something like that...

What do you think??

This kitchen is so interesting, theres a playpen for mums to put their kids inside, where they can't disturb, and yet can be watched at the same time, thats smart! Oh, if you change the things inside to a couch and tv set, you can have your elderly parents in there as well, so they can't comment on your cooking, hahaha.. just joking...

Couldn't help myself, there was a very nice and large mirror!

I would love to have that magic slimming mirror, hee... and in the toilet... :D

We had lunch at the cafeteria, where they serve lots of food, besides swedish and western things, they also have nasi padang and other stuff as well.. :) However, eventhough everything looked nice, I only preferred the chicken wings and the apple pie.. Didn't try the meatballs tho, cos according to my aunt, they aren't that nice...

I was so amazed when I first stepped in, cos the cafeteria is almost entirely self-serviced by customers.. Everyone had to push a little double-tiered trolley where you put all your food and then paid at the cashier.. Before grabbing food, you have to get your own try, utensils, drinks, etc.. kind of like at a factory production line, where you wait for your turn to do something.. Kind of weird, but fun lah..

Cold food including salads and appetisers..

All looking very colourful..

Warm desserts.. I got a slice of apple pie!! :)

Swedish meatballs!

Something very funny happened when we met this aunty, when we gave our order, she just assumed we wanted meatballs and started scooping them out.. Maybe cos almost everyone before us got a serving of meatballs... Yea, they are that popular... She was kind of surprised when we stopped her and said we didn't want any..

Our very fully laden trolley.. :D

Clockwise from top: Deli chicken wings, poached fish with potatoes and my aunt's miced chicken noodles.. Mum had sandwiches, cos her gums were giving her problems again, poor thing... For me, the fish was so-so, should have ordered something else, but luckily my dessert made up for it..

Glorious apple pie! Granted I've had better, but I won't say no to apple pie anytime.. :D I was so stuffed in the end, cos I had a main course, one chicken wing and 1 slice of pie.. @.@~

After leaving IKEA, we did go have a look at the Giant hypermart opposite.. They also have a Courts Mammoth at the back.. Kind of like in Mutiara Damansara.. but I prefer our linkage of the Curve, IKEA, Ikano, Cineleisure and Tesco much more! After that, went home and rested.. My feet almost committed suicide, cos I'd worked them so hard for 3 days, and wearing heels too.. Came home to JB the next morning..

Singapore: Vivo City! & Dinner at Pu Tien (莆田 )

Still day 2 at Singapore, after brunch we decided to go shopping/ walking at Vivo City, which is right across Sentosa Island.. Many interesting retail outlets there, including Daiso, where everything is S$2 (we spent a long time i there as you would guess), but the place that fascinated me the most was this: National Geographic~ Yep, they have their own retail outlet selling all sorts of related merchandise including the magazines themselves, clothes for all sorts of outdoor adventures and lots more interesting things besides..

The thing that first attracted me into the shop- Thats a driftwood horse, by the way..

Nah, a clearer view of the thing, spectacular, isn't it?!

A big chunk of stone with dead fish in it~

Those are fossils, if you didn't notice, and the bloody thing costs thousands of SGD (Singapore dollars).. it would be an interesting conversational piece in your living room tho.. :D

A crazy lady trying out the 'freezer' that lets you experience the numbing cold of the north pole (up to -15 celsius), whats more, she paid to go in~

A 'something' made out of some things, just felt it was cute~

Antique chest.. Many antiques there, and the best thing is, they let you take as many photographs as you like, no prohibitions.. How nice...

Anyone wanna guess how much this antique sofa costs??

.
.
.

Answer: SGD 47435.00 (O.o..)

More antiques, really like the rocking horse.. @.@~

*******************************************************************************************

We had our afternoon tea here:

So-so lah, nothing much to review..

Mummy and aunty! :)

******************************************************************************************

After that, we paid a visit to the rooftop.. Don't misunderstand ya, you don't have to pay to go there.. The view is quite nice and there were lots of families, couples, etc enjoying the splash pools.. It a nice feeling to know that you are up on the roof of a building, hehe... Can see lots of things from up there..

Sentosa cable car.. Its nothing compared to our very own Genting Skyway *proud*

Funny, quirky statues and sculptures...

Another cute sculpture and a very nice skyline filled with all sorts of cranes..

Check out the view!

and some more~

After the foortop, we headed off to Daiso, where everyone bought a lot of rubbish that we most probably won't use much.. Its just that when you see that everything is $2 (around RM4.80), you can't seem to resist~ >.<

***************************************************************************************************

After Vivo City, we spent considerable time travelling to Little India to get some cheap luggage bags from Mustapha.. OMG.. the number of foreign workers there, its enough to rival KLCC on weekends.. I would have gotten a huge huge fright if I went there alone.. Anyways, after paying for our purchases, we decided to have dinner..

Dinner at 莆田 (actually its a place in China).. Its an awfully long walk from Mustaphas to the restaurant, I swear my feet almost died, luckily my cousin was there to help me drag my new suitcase and the food was mighty interesting until i kind of forgot about the long walk there..

As you can see, the ambience wasn't too bad.. Turns out its pretty relaxing to eat in front of a tank full of beautiful fish, hahahahhaha...

The first dish: 咸香盐水鸭 (basically salted duck flesh)
It was sliced very thinly and didn't taste too salty.. Nothing much to shout about..

Second dish: 冰浸苦瓜 (yep, thats bittergourd in ice, made to look like a lotus flower)
The way to eat it is to dip it in honey, or was it maple syrup, i'm not too sure... Very cooling and crunchy and refreshing indeed.. *thumbs up!*

Third dish: 糖醋皮蛋 (Century egg tossed with sugar and vinegar)
This was the biggest surrise of all, since I don't eat century egg normally, and I still fell in love with this dish, in my opinion, it didn't taste remotely like egg anymore.. It tasted more like sweet and sour spare ribs instead, haha... Yums~

Fourth dish: 上汤苋菜 (Spinach in soup/broth)
Don't be mislead by its looks, it was much tastier than it looked, especially the soup, I had second helpings of this.. :)

Fifth and Sixth dish: 莆田卤面 & 焖番薯粉条 (namely Pu Tien's signature noodles and sweet potato noodle strips)
hahahha.. I still can't believe the dark brown ones are sweet potato noodles.. Aren't sweet potatoes either orange or yellow??! Anyways, I preferred the white one more cos the sweet potato noodles were a little too chewy for me, they made my teeth and jaws very tired.. haha.. pity poor mum who was having gum troubles that night..

Seventh dish: 自制滑豆腐 (homemade silky tofu)
We didn't want to order this at first, but the waitress who took our order must have gotten an 'A' in marketing, she was so pursuasive that we had to try.. and well, what can I say, it is smooth and soft and everything tofu should be.. not that its not available at other places tho~ O.o...

Desserts: 芋泥 & 金瓜露 (yam paste and pumpkin paste)
The yam paste kind of failed, in my opinion, the coconut milk taste was too strong, and I prefer a more chewy paste.. The pumpkin one however was nicer, it was served with vanilla ice-cream, and maybe because it was chilled, I kind of enjoyed it more, not too sweet as well...

After dinner, we were so stuffed and exhausted that we took a cab home.. Oh, and the dinner cost my cousin S$70+ for 4 people (I shudder to calculate in ringgit >.<) thanks for the dinner, cousin!

So there, that summarizes day 2 spent in Singapore, with my aunt and cousins.. You know what to order if you ever go to Pu Tien Restaurant in Singapore now.. hehe... Day 3 is up next~ :D
