Dinner at Coliseum~

Made a trip downtown 2 sundays ago.. now that im staying in PJ, there's hardly a chance for me to venture into KL when everything is available around here.. Anyways, went to KL Sogo with Lilian & Vivien to get a haircut as well as check out the 'forever on sale' Sogo shopping mall.. Got a dress and a pair of shoes :) yippee~!

We decided to venture down the road for dinner at the famous Coliseum Cafe & Hotel on Jalan TAR.. This is my 3rd visit to this oldie restaurant, the taste of the food just sticks itself into your memory, hehehhe... Im always fascinated by the sizzling steaks but a little to pricey for ppl on a budget~

The very vintage looking sign~ my memory of the place is that its very old, old building, old decor, old furnishings and even old waiters (but there were some younger waiters this time around tho)

the furnishings are preserved from the 1920s when the shop first opened.. :)

Can see the bar counter and some old waiters here :)

Menu!! if ever you need to make reservations.. hehehe...

Waiting for our dinner!!

Hungry until eyeing the sauce :P

Ordered the same drink as Lil, which was pink guava juice.. love the colour :)

Vivien's ice blended cappuccino.. A little weak for coffee lovers, but if you're a non-coffee person like me, then maybe you will like it lor..

Pretty crowded.. I think there were lots of tourists..

before our food came, we had fun watching the diners wearing bibs around their necks and the waiters pouring sauce onto the hotplates.. This lady just looks so tranquil~ hehehe

Chicken Maryland..

The portion was so huge that Lil had trouble finishing it.. I think the chicken and the banana tasted great! esp the banana.. crispy on the outside and warm and soft and sweet inside :D

Fried Fish with french beans and mashed potatoes~

The slice of fish was also humongous, perfect for fishlovers! The mashed potato was very buttery and filling as well... Very worth it.. plus the black pepper sauce wasnt too spicy :)

My baked stuffed crab which i've been craving for since my last visit :):):)

One of the must try dishes.. saw lots of ppl ordering this besides me~ but if you want value for money, then this dish wont be as worth it as the 2 previous ones.. but i guarantee its super yummy, i still remembered the taste long after i tried it many years ago..

Me with my caramel custard.. which couldnt come out clear when photographed.. no idea why.. tastes the same as the one i had in Ipoh ages and ages ago.. quite a huge slab served too!

Ppl always say not to play with your food.. but when impulse comes, you just cant help it :D

My crabby masterpiece~

I swear the next time i go to Coliseum, im ordering the sizzling steak.. dared not order since the first time i visited more than 10 years ago, cos the idea of wearing a bib when eating just gives me the feeling of being a baby @.@~

Sizzling steak wait for me!!!!

I wanna buy up Fossil!!!

I finally, finally got myself a new wallet!!! my first genuine leather wallet (ok, maybe some ppl have had lots of them, but i dont care, its my first one and quite expensive for my usual standards..) after months and months of scouting and months and months of being nagged by some and egged on by some, i sucked in a deep breath and got something from Fossil.. where i religiously went to at least twice a month to salivate at the stuff available... Love the stuff there! Dont believe me? check out the website~~~

FOSSIL~

I think i brought at least 5 ppl on diff occasions to look at the stuff in the outlet in The Gardens Mall and also klcc, and everyone ended up gushing abt how nice the bags and other stuff were, hehehe... but quite sad that i didnt end up getting my first choice lor, which was this:

Talita Double Pouch

I think i considered getting this for at least 3 mths before realising that it couldnt fit RM50 notes without folding them in half first :( too impractical for me lor.. and the card slots have to be taken out before you can put yr cards in... sigh.. but really love the cute design...

Ended up getting the Sasha Multifunction instead, if you've seen my previous wallet, i think you would have gagged... the pink's almost become black with dirt and grime and years of handling and the pvc is starting to flake off, oh and theres the little problem of not being able to close it properly :( so brought 2 colleagues who love shopping together with me so tat they could force me to make a decision.. hehehhe.... recently i've been trying to get stuff with designs that are more interesting.. cos i've always gone for simple and safe, time to make a change~~ :)

The day i brought my baby back.. all wrapped in green paper.... (with flash)

So many compartments!!!! yay! good for organising all my rubbish~

All the things i found in my previous wallet.. my new one can stuff just as much, even more.. and it can still be closed after that, unlike my old wallet :D I realised i have more paper in my wallet than money.. sobs~

Taken in the day time.. the sales assistant showed me the only 2 left on display, and when you look closely at each one, you will realise that there are little subtle differences in the pattern of the flowers on the front..

mine has ferns instead of sunflowers and the flowers on the pink patch are daintier :)

Stuffed full with my rubbish~

The back, and the flower embossed zipper.. love it!

Note to self: Any dirt marks or scratches in future will only cotribute more to its character and uniqueness, so no need to feel guilty aye? :P

The nice logo on the receipt.. So far the amount i swiped hasnt appeared on my card statement (i've been checking the past two days) maybe they forgot about the transaction.. *crossing fingers* hahhahaha...

Love the store.. and can you believe the staff there get 50% off items.. I also want!!!!

When my budget expands in future, i swear i will go grab some bags and be like the malay girl i saw who snapped up 3 items within a few minutes after entering the store, buy things no need to think first wan :S 3 items almost 1k already :S:S:S..

I wanna buy up Fossil!!!!! Waaaa...

Sex & The City 2 rawkxx!

15 June 2010

Something free, something tasty, something happy and it really made my day~ even cancelled out a dash of annoyance in between.. Well, what am i talking about you say? The something free was this:

Free tix to watch Sex and the City 2 at GSC Mid Valley!!! Whee~~ and i got to watch it 2 days before it was due to start showing in Malaysia as well, all thanks to the tiny little obscure coupon in The Star newspaper's Clove section :D (Thx mum for posting it to me, xoxo~)

Ticket redemption began at 8pm and the movie screening was at 9.30pm, so met birthday girl Lilian after work to go join the queue...

Was at this place two nights in a row.. teehee~

The queue was quite orderly at first, and we were considered at the front part of the queue.. but the stupid cinema employees started to try to move the queue further in, and in the confusion, many ppl at the back took the opportunity to squeeze to the front, and those at the front of the queue found themselves at the back instead, us included.. man was i pissed off.. luckily the b'day girl didnt mind..

Anyways, tat little bit of annoyance didnt stop us from successfully reddeming our tickets, and we ended upwith 2 tickets each cos we had 2 coupons.. I actually feel rather guilty abt tat.. but nobody asked us for them.. so we ended up with J7,8 and J13,14.. centre seats in the centre row, yippee! After that we were starving, so picked a place nearby for dinner, Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant~ :)

Ordered the set meal, 19.90 for Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (mixed vege rice and with chicken in a stone bowl) which came with the works: Soup, banchan (re: Kimchi Haru post) and this giant mug of refillable tea... :D very worth it in my opinion~

Banchan!!

Yummy kimchi, vege, pancake, pickled cucumber, fishcake and mashed potato + coleslaw :)

Very very scrumptious Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap~

All mixed up and ready to be eaten :):):)

Dumplings~~ filling tastes like xiao long bao.. yums~

The set came with free dessert too!!

We had a great time there, mainly cos when we first went in, there werent many customers annd the waiters gave us plenty of attention, and we spent the time chatting away abt everything under the sun~

Taking a pic of her Birthday "Cake"~

hehehehe... custard & red bean mochi... next time gonna get one for myself to try :P

Suddenly noticed these funny tube things hanging from the ceiling, and i was thinking to myself that the decor was a little weird...

Rupanya its for the smoke coming from the BBQ.. Great, hate the smell that lingers on you after a BBQ meal!

All too soon, it was movie time! Loved our centre seats.. in the end, gave our J7 and J8 seats to other ppl :) I actually enjoyed the movie a lot even though its gotten some not so good reviews.. but what the heck, we were so entertained by it, in fact, we were laughing all the way..

I actually agree with many ppl out there that Sarah Jessica Parker isnt very pretty to look at.. (sometimes, from certain angles, she reminds me a little of the witch from snow white).. especially during the gay wedding scenes.. @.@~ in fact, adding in Carrie Bradshaw's behaviour during this movie, she definitely wasnt the protagonist for me...

I actually liked the cute clueless Charlotte and 'Fun in Abu Dhabi' Miranda a lot more.. hehhehe... I think everyone would love the scene where Charlotte and Miranda exchange mum stories and end up getting each other tipsy.. Kim Cattrall is also hilarious as age-defying Samantha Jones, with her hormone creams and yams and her wardrobe choices in the middle-east, hahahhaha.. Spiky, Killer shoulders anyone? re: pic below~

Anyways, a true girly movie through and through.. with topics like motherhood, menopause, female bonding etc.. and you get to see nice bags and shoes and baubles and some pretty ok clothes.. but there were sooo many old uncles in the coupon redemption queue.. weird.... (cos of the word Sex in the title??)

2 and a half hours of entertainment all for free!!! So glad i got to watch SATC 2 before the rest of Malaysia, hehehehehe~~~

Charity Bazaar~~

I have been so charitable this mth, must give myself a pat on the back! Have donated blood, pledged organs, bought charity booklets and raffle tickets and volunteered.. hehehhehe, talk abt a complete package! :)

Last Sunday, i was called upon by one of my colleagues to go volunteer at a charity bazaar in aid of Angels Orphanage, its an annual affair held at Overseas Union Garden.. I recruited Lilian there as well, hehe.. the more the merrier~

At the MCA Hall~

Arrived too early at the venue even after having an hour-long breakfast, so since the person in charge of our stall hadnt arrived yet, we took the opportunity to kaypoh at wat other ppl were selling~

Thats the 98.8fm stall..

They were selling all sorts of stuff, even soy sauce, cooking oil and evaporated milk, hahaha.. but no DJs to be seen :(

Organic food stuff~

Coupons counter.. RM10 for one book, as a volunteer we had an extra RM12, and my colleague gave me another RM10, so in total i had RM32 to fling.. muahahaha...

Coupons galore! :)

Our table still so empty when everone had already set up shop.. There was something unpleasant that happened, which resulted in us getting one table instead of 2~ but all in the name of charity, so...

Volunteers.. bought bought more than we sold i think.. hahaha...

Close-up~

Our team members finally arrived to set up shop ard 10am, we had been there since 8.30am O.o... Luckily we weren't selling lots of stuff, if not 1 table really wouldnt be enough..

Selling 'junk food'... price was adjusted to RM3 after much deliberation, hehe..

Damn hard to sell junk food.. eventhough it was one of the cheapest things being sold.. The stuff sold at the bazaar was quite pricey.. Sometimes the kids would want to buy, but the parents refused, sometimes husband wanted, wife refused, there was even one instance where the grandpa wanted to buy but the grandkid wasnt interested, hah! In the end, we resorted to carrying our goods ard to sell..

An uncle asked whether we are sisters, hehehehe...

very good turn out even with the blazing heat..

It was really really hot, but the place was quite packed the whole time.. and after one coconut, one cup of apple juice, bubble milk tea, and a heavy breakfast, i was feeling rather bloated, so desperately tried to sell everything as fast as possible to get home earlier :S

Got stall selling bak kut teh some more! It smelled really good~

Wish i could have tried it, but really too full.. :(

Kiddies dancing to Nobody~ cute!

At first i thought they were orphans, but were actually kids from a dance class~

Trying to pikat little girl.. hahaha...

Anyways, our strategy was quite successful, cos we managed to sell all our goods by 12.30pm :D i actually targeted ppl holding whole stacks of coupons, or ppl looking lost with no idea wat to buy, hehehe.. I spent my coupons mostly on cold drinks, a tin of biscuits and fu chok gingko barley tong shui :S

So many ppl seliing so little stuff, if cannot finish sure very embarassing, hahaha..

Quite a nice experience, imho.. but sure wish it wasnt that hot.. maybe a cloudy day would be good.. cos if it was a rainy day, then maybe not so many ppl would have bothered to go lor.. maybe next time i wanna go ladle soup to homeless ppl, hahahahha.... Thanks Kim and Fei Fong for the experience!
