Hunting for food - Dragon One SS2 龙煮意

Gosh, this was from ages and ages ago, back in April i think, when our makan gang was still intact, and i've been to this little restaurant in SS2 at least 5 times since then.. *hint: its good enough for repeat visits :) The story goes like this, a 'Mr White' who is a colleague of mine from a different dept who is also a food blogger was looking for ppl to join him on a food hunt to this place called Dragon One, and we were all invited by chance through Vi whom he had asked first..

Its located a few doors away from the famous Murni in SS2, same row as Public Bank & Secret Recipe and its a great place to go to for both interesting and Shanghai-style dimsum/ food, but its so obscure that many ppl i brought there never noticed it before... look out for the red signboard when you go..

Food pics~

My Roselle drink.. a bit like sour plum and the flower is edible if you dare try.. :)

Lets just say the place isnt that famous for its drinks, cos the drinks that everyone ordered turned out to be quite unsatisfactory, the carrot juice especially was too diluted and tasteless.. my advice would be to order cheaper drinks like chinese tea and splurge on the super yummy food instead :D

Stir fried bean sheet with shrimp or 上海虾仁炒粉皮, a surprisingly tasty dish which blew our minds away, and it was only the first dish, at first i tot it was so good cos i was really hungry at the time, but i've tried it a second and third time and it still tastes great.. i think the 'golden needle mushrooms' go really well with the dish~

Cant remember what this is called, but nothing special for me..

Yums! Never imagined avocado could taste so good - Avocado with Kataifi, cruchy and creamy at the same time :):):) must try~

Something interesting, shrimp & mango roll, something different, but not one of my favourites..

Custard buns, if i remember correctly, its called something funny in Chinese, something like 二奶包.. hahahha.. not bad, but also not one of my favourites :P

Steamed Rice Flour Roll with Duck Meat in Crab Sauce, the sauce was nice, but i felt that the stuffing in the rolls was a bit too sweet for me...

Another interesting thing - Deep fried prawn roll with orange sauce, great for adventurous ppl who like to try weird combinations, hahahha.. very crunchy, but too bad if you're the person who gets to eat the tip, cos all the good stuff is at the other end :P

Xiao long bao!!! I love this, i think it can rival Din Tai Fung's.. hehehe.. must eat with the vinegar + ginger sauce provided.. i try to order either this or the pan-fried meat buns whenever im there.. :)

Cheese La Mian that i almost forgot to photograph, fusion food at its best, very satisfying.. but better bring someone along to share, cos you're going to get indigestion if you finish this alone.. muahahha...

Deep fried spring roll with unagi and yoghurt, sounds weird right? but it was somehow delicious lor.. :)

we got it cut up into pieces, boo..

Last but not least, the acclaimed durian pancake.. super duper guilt inducing with its oozy cream and durian filling, but well worth the guilt! Yummy!!

Had lots of fun trying out the food cos we could order so many dishes and complaining abt the pro photographer taking so long with his shots, cos we just couldnt wait to eat everything once the plate touched the table.. in fact, i think we made him miss out one dish that he didnt take a picture of.. the 上海担担面 i think.. a bit like lor mee, very strong vinegar taste, to be honest i didnt really like it..

The guy who organised the food hunt busy with his toy~

before we began 'hunting' :) my lunch ex-lunch gang!!

with See Mun & Defne & Eris~

All from diff depts.. :)

Girls only~

Candid shot,spot the 'kissers'" :P

finally, everyone in~

I can honestly tell you, the prices are super reasonable, i've never spent more than rm15 per person no matter how full the table top is with food... sometime with just rm10, can eat a lot already if you bring more ppl along.. :)

Some other stuff i've ordered on separate occassions:-

passion fruit ice, nice!

Steamed rice flour with oyster sauce or 香菇蚝油肠粉卷

see, its so shiny and glistening.. but skip of you dont like oyster sauce.. hehehe or mushrooms for that matter, lots of 料~

Pan friend meat bun as previously mentioned, like a slightly crunchy pau with the same filling as the xiao long bao, scrumptious!

must try~ 生炒茶鱼萝卜糕 radish cake with a twist, cuttlefish flakes~ catch the flakes moving before you gobble up this amazingly yummy dish.. lol..

Shanghai style la mian with crab roe.. dunno whether its really crab roe or not, but the broth is just perfect on a cold rainy day, lots of 'roe' and cabbage... huge bowl that can be shared by three ppl, only rm9.80~

Prawn dumpling la mian or 鲜虾水饺面, as you can see, the dumplings are huge~ lots of prawns~ @.@~

dunno whether to be happy or to be sad when i think of this, we found plastic in the dumpling noodles but the waitress didnt seem to think it was a big deal when we informed her, following which we were talking quite loudly abt it when she suddenly came over with these eggtarts and told us it was on the house.. another great tasting dish.. if only the whole meal was on the house :P

still some more things on the menu for me to try out so i foresee more visits there in future.. muahahhaha... so far most of the dishes havent let me down and the prices are damn reasonable.. well worth a try~!
