Tropic Thunder!!

I had really high hopes for this movie.. Why?? Cos life has been quite a drag lately and i really need some good laughs to make the days pass easier.. And i was pleasantly surprised that Tropic Thunder managed live up to its high billing and satisfied my laughter needs that day!

This film is directed by Ben Stiller, who also directed Night at the Museum before this.. Cant wait for Museum 2 to come out.. Basically, the story is abt some very spoiled, 'act like kings' Hollywood actors who complain all the time while filming a war movie called Tropic Thunder... The movie is supposedly based on a true story by a guy named Four-leave Tayback who lost his hands while fighting in Vietnam.

As the poor director cant control his lead actors, his film is now way over schedule and over budget as well.. After getting some advice drom the author himself, he decide to drop his actors in a Vietnamese jungle to let them experience living in a jungle and facing the unexpected firsthand... Only Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller) the lead actor in the movie is keen on this as he thinks the movie will help revive his dying career... What they dont know is that the jungle is really a dangerous place as there is a small rebel army in charge of producing poppy who have taken over the jungle, and they do not welcome visitors..

Once they land, the poor director is literally blown away as he accidentally steps on a stray landmine.. The other actors assume the worst and want to return to their comfy hotel beds soon enough and poor Tugg is then left continuing the journey alone by following the scenes in the script.. Unfortunately he is caught and "tortured" by the rebels, and the rest of the guys are forced to re-enact the war story to save him...

I love this movie cos of many reasons..
Jack Black seems to be having fun as the drug addict cum pampered actor who is willing to do anything to get his fix, he showed his butt in so many scenes :D .. and Robert Downey Jr is great as the most confused actor on the planet-an Australian acting as an African American fighting in Vietnam... The movie also tells you that you can never believe anything 100%, like the 'true war story' that turned out to be a hoax, just fiction that was imagined by the author... those who know mandarin have another reason to watch the movie, i was laughing like mad at the weird chinese they were speaking in the film :D and try to catch Tom Cruise in action, tho i kind of hate his ridiculous role.. I also like the way they described the movie during the 'Oscars'- The true story of the making of the most expensive movie ever!

Robert Downey Jr as Kirk Lazarus-most confused actor on Earth!

There are quite a bit of funny (and gross) bits in the movie and i cant begin to list all of it down.. so be sure to watch it for yourselves! Dont say i didnt tell you, it was more worth it than Quantum of Solace (personal opinion lah) :D

One of the many of my fav lines from the movie: (from IMDB.com)
Tugg Speedman: Now, let's go get those Viet Congs.
[cocks his gun]
Alpa Chino: "Viet Cong!"
Tugg Speedman: What?
Alpa Chino: It's "viet cong." There's no "s," it's already plural. You wouldn't say "Chineses..."

:D
