Officially gila buku~
After reading in the newspaper the number of ppl who went bright and early on the first day to grab at the books, I decided that it might be worth going to take a look.. :) and it really was worth the walk.. Eventhough it was almost ending by the time I went, there was still a steady supply of brand new books on sale (tho i suspect a lot of the bestsellers had already been grabbed cos I did see ONE book by Jeffrey Archer, which i already have which means that there should have been more previously).. for only rm8! Which is ridiculously cheap... (many ppl were buying boxes full of books O.o...)
I only got 3 tho.. on a tight budget... so 3 is considered a big haul already by my standards... :) I still cant get over how cheap they were, cos the cheapest books I have gotten so far cost me 99 pence, which is around RM6, but they were second hand, just RM2 more for brand new ones, unbelievable! I swear that I will go again next year if The Big Bad Books Sale ever comes round again :D
Judge a book by its cover??
1) Brokeback Mountain on the cover- actually contains short stories that will make interesting films, if anyone bothers to make them... @.@~
2) Patchy, naughty looking dog- a diary written from an alpha male/ inobedient dog's point of view
3) Eerie looking spindly things - Murder mystery where the crime is solved by investigating bones left at the crime scene.. This is actually part of the books that inspired the series Bones that I'm so crazy abt... :)
PS: I just finished Bad Dog's Diary, and two thumbs up~~ :) I wanna read the prequel so badly now... Time to lurk around Borders Bookstore, hehehe...
PPS: Flavour of the week is Dreamcatcher by Alexandre Desplat, track #15 of the score for New Moon~

Air Supply-Two Less Lonely People in the World...
Two Less Lonely People in the World
I was down my dreams were wearing thin
When you're lost where do you begin
My heart always seemed to drift from day to day
Looking for the love that never came my way
Then you smiled and i reached out to you
I could tell you were lonely too
One look then it all began for you and me
The moment that we touched i knew that there would be
(chorus)
two less lonely people in the world
And it's gonna be fine
Out of all the people in the world
I just can't believe you're mine
In my life where everything was wrong
Something finally went right
Now there's two less lonely people
In the world tonight
Just to think what i might have missed
Looking back how did i exist
I dreamed, still i never thought i'd come this far
But miracles come true, i know 'cause here we are
(chorus)
Tonight i fell in love with you
And all the things i never knew
Seemed to come to me somehow
Baby, love is here and now there's
(repeat chorus)
LUNA NUEVA!! :)
Finally watched a movie i'd been waiting for 6 months for on 27th Nov -- New Moon~*squeals*
For once, being kiasu is a good thing, cos I booked my ticket the week before, and lucky that I did so too, cos when I wanted to book an extra ticket for the same show the next night, guess what?! Not only was there suddenly another showing at the same time slot (that wasnt there the day before..), but both shows were too full for reservations... O.o... and I was watching at the cinema that the least ppl go to as well..
Honestly, I still prefer the movies to the books, cos theres too much repetition and long-winded parts in the book for me to enjoy it.. Plus you get to see hunky guys with their shirts off in the movie as well... Stupid Malaysian censorship Board tho... If you wan to cut then cut it all out, if not then jus keave everything... whats the sense in cutting a bit and leaving a bit?! Makes no sense at all... and I hope parents/ girlfriends would not bring their uninterested kids/ boyfriends to watch the movie lor.. I saw one father closing his son's eyes everytime a kiss came up (the poor kid finally fell asleep in the end) and lots of guys aking up when the end credits came up and asking their other halves "apa ending?" sigh...
My opinion is that its half good half bad.. some of the dialogue was pretty tedious but some of the scenes looked really nice... so if you're a fan, go watch it or you'll regret, but if you're not, then you're better off watching something else instead of watching then complaining afterwards... :P
Oh and first time I've been to a 'snowing session' with really fake bubbly/ foamy snow, hahahaha....
I have fallen in love with O' Briens sandwiches on my first try.. Really damn yummy :) and the service is very good as well... or maybe cos there weren't many customers *shrugs* I dunno~

Re: Tricor Staff Party - 20 November 2009
I consider myself pretty lucky that got to attend a staff party so soon after starting work.. I remember when i was an intern, i also got to go to their annual dinner even though i was just there for 3 mths.. hehe.. In actual fact, this stupid staff party was giving me headaches way before it was due to happen.. The reason being that it was a themed party, and of all themes?! Masquerade >.< already broke lah, still need to spend money to get a mask.. nice ones aren't that cheap as well.. luckily i managed to find an ingenious way to solve my problem.. and my kind roommate lent me her shoes, since i didnt bring my own up to KL so didnt have to buy.. :)
Phone camera can't show the nice interior properly :(
All the pretty ladies~
Contestants from the male category of the pageant~ spot batman?
this guy went all out with his outfit... but too bad he still didnt win.. our hero, batman won instead...
Guess which one i got?
Picture time:
With big boss, mr yeoh who sponsored the grand prize, a bewildered foreigner, my colleague who was one of the pageant contestants, our next head of the co sec dept, ms annie wong and my manager..
With another of my groupmates, Kim and Aunty from the pantry in her crazy mask~~
with Azlin, another groupmember..
Just a thought.. I dunno why i felt so much more exposed in my dress this time round compared to when i wore it in Liverpool... cos its Malaysia and we're supposed to be more modest here?? hmm.... or maybe my dress just got loose in the wash... @.@~
All in all, a pretty fun night even though i was quite reluctant to go at first, even considered asking other ppl to go as me, since they wouldnt be recognised in a mask anyway... :P

Anticlimax~
First of all, after rushing like mad through the rain and the crowded roads to get to the meeting place, we found out that the time had been changed from 3pm to 3.30 :S Discussions finally began with the directors all munching on pisang goreng... What was even more maddening was that after we expected to be able to finish and go home early, the Chairman insisted on making an announcement to Bursa even after my manager explained to him that it was unnecessary, so we had to rush all the way back to the office to make it in time and prepare everything for the announcement to be made before the day ended..
Got to rack my brains tomorrow while i prepare the minutes.. Cos it was a last minute meeting, and we couldnt get recorders at the last minute, had to write down everything by hand.. Going to spend most of the morning deciphering my manager's notes as well as figuring out what the hell i wrote down myself :*
My next meeting better be more up to expectations~ hahaha...

Summary?? 8/11-14/11/2009
A summary of the past week:
- Stayed back till 7pm for abt 3 days to help with a scrapbook for a director who is retiring in Dec.. Each group was given 5 pages and told to decorate them to be joined together into a scrapbook.. Lots of cutting and pasting and people laughing at my inability to draw straight lines >.<
-Finally got an EPF account! So great that i could legitimately skive off during work to go to the kwsp branch in PJ, driver included as well :)
-Met up with the Gang!!! Woohoo.. we should all make an effort to meet up more often.. I am super free during weekends I must add... :P
-Went to a Robinson's Members' Day for the first time.. The queue reached the Coach outlet at The Gardens O.o.. Lots of kiasu uncles there as well, and all for wat?! A goodie bad wit a mug, a pen anda notepad.. hahaha.. Guess who i went with?! The director and senior manager of my group no less.. So funny...
-Finally have a decision abt my CIMB-MAICSA direct access platinum card.. Be patient, I am coming to get you! Teehee~
-Oh, and I missed my own Advanced Diploma convocation.. Planned to go look-see, look-see at first, but in the end decided it would be a little too weird to watch my classmates in their caps and gowns as a spectator... Will go for my degree and external paper ones, enough for me lah..
Next week is coming fast, got a meeting with Wendy to look forward to, an extraordinary general meeting to attend and a masquerade staff prty/ annual dinner (that i forsee will be torturous for me) to go to... Wish me luck~~

Watching a movie alone~~
Watched Law Abiding Citizen last Wednesday (cheap tix at GSC :P) Nobody i asked wanted to watch this not very blockbuster movie when there're so many other choices recently and I'd really really wanted to watch this very much ever since I saw the awesome trailer some time ago..
Its basically abt a guy called Clyde whose wife and daughter are killed during a break-in at his home, and when the justice system did not provide the proper punishment to the killer and his accomplice, he decides to take the matter in his own hands by murdering them himself.. The way he kills them is damn smart but quite horrifying at the same time, imagine being cut into pieces while still alive?! >.<
Then, what is even more interesting is that he manages to keep killing government officials who were involved in the sentencing of the 2 criminals while he is actually locked up in jail! Watch it just to marvel at the clever ways that people can be murdered.. O.o~ haha.. but the whole movie is super exciting, I felt so kan cheong throughout... Must watch! Plus I think I lke Gerard Butler (from the movie 300) even more now.. I was wondering how he would be able to show off his muscles in this movie, but don't worry, there is a scene where he is half naked, hehehe.. and is well worth the anticipation... *giggle*
Check out the trailer~

All in all a nice experience, but i'm pretty sure the next time i watch a movie, i'm going to go with someone else besides myself :)

1U Adventure~
Dinner at Penang Flavours...
After dinner, we went to check out the actual reason we went to 1u in the first place:
Oktoberfest! Which if you didnt know, is an annual beer festival in Germany~ which is something rare in Malaysia, cos it allows alcohol consumption in a public place.. >.< only people above the age of 18 and non-muslims were allowed to enter the enclosed area.. Foreigners will think we are real weird..
Ok, the main reason we even ventured there was cos OneCard members could redeem free beer at RM1, which is even cheaper than in UK.. hehe... unfortunately we had to use 50sen coins, so since we only had 2 coins between us, we only got one bottle.. not a bad thing actually, cos the Löwenbräu beer wasn't that nice.. a bit bitter.. :S
There were games and performances, but still a very subdued event, made even worse by the rain... We only stayed till 11pm cos it got kind of boring after awhile..
Just found out they have their own wiki page, wow~
Dragon Red so i shall change it to just 'band I don't know' :D
