Day 8: Assignment all day long.. Continuing with York..

Nothing special happened today.. spent the whole day moping ard thinking about our assignment.. So I'm going to continue with part 2 of the york trip.. After leaving York Minster, our next stop on the map was The National Railway Museum.. Had to go there because entry is free, haha.. We skipped Jorvik the viking place cos of the expensive entrance fee.. :(

see the cute train?? Its actually a shuttle from the town centre to the museum, and we didnt know.. Gosh, we walked such a long distance to get there, and upon arriving, found out that some people had taken the tram ride there.. Oh well, saved 1 pound tho.. but it was really hot all the way while we walked.. >.<

Lovely view of the York boat on the river while on the way to the museum.. See how sunny it was.. York is definitely much hotter than Liverpool..

Passed this eerie tunnel as well.. The temperature inside was much lower.. Im willing to bet that this is one of the stops of this:

No need to waste money, i think i went to 2 of the stops that day, one was the hospital ruins at the museum gardens and the eerie tunnel near the museum.. haha..

Obviously they have lots more exhibits, like the Japanese bullet train, the flying dutchman, etc, but no point lah, you've seen one train, you've seen most trains, haha.. my logic.. Some stuff at the museum:

Platform 9 and 3/4s????? hahahaha...

I was just asking my friend who was this supposed to be when I spotted the plaque

The plaque, haha :)

Mini fairgrounds, each ride cost 1.50 O.o...

Bumped into some old friends who are now at Sheffield Hallam uni.. Recognise him ppl?? :)

This poor dog is stuffed.. @.@~

Its story..

How much is that doggie in the window? Weird prop..

This picture is here because i'm in it, even if you didnt notice..

Lots of similar train models..

Another model..

A car in the railway museum...

Too dark for pictures.. Take 1-failed..

Take 2- still too dark.. my arm looks like a man's, sob sob...

Gave up on pictures after that.. I was wearing my 6 pound jeans that day, super comfy and nice, super worth it!!! :D Then we heard the announcement about a demonstration on the 'turntables', thinking it would be interesting, we went to have a look.. Turns out its just turning a heavy locomotive 360 degrees on a circular track, cheh... haha..

The person who did the commentary and the train that was turned..

The angle is obviously different here, i swear I didnt change positions..

Spent quite a long time in the museum cos it was our last stop for the day before going to catch the coach back.. luckily entrance was foc.. didnt see anything especially inspiring in there, haha.. In fact i was quite bored after awhile.. just lots and lots of old train furniture all around..

Met up with some classmates.. I admit I'm a little antisocial.. haha..

Was dying of thirst at this point, only brought 750ml water that day.. Got a ribena at the vending machine for 1 pound.. Found out later that Home Bargain sells 4 packets for 1 pound... Arghhh... no choice lah, hahaha...

Macro shot of some flowers outside the museum.. :D

We finished too early, so we had to wait at the bus stop for the coach to arrive.. Our other classmates all went to McDonalds, but we were too lazy to walk to and fro again, so we just sat around at the park opposite the coach stop..

Bumped into another college friend there who is doing his masters tat sheffield as well, so at least had someone to chat to as we waited.. The coach arrived around 5pm, and it was another 2 and a half hour journey back.. The bus was boiling on the way back, and the coach leader was explaininh about climate control systems and how they never refill the gas for the air-conditioning since its seldom hot here.. Well, it WAS hot that day, everyone was sweating on the way back, but most people were too tired to care.. haha.. many people went to the wrong toilets when we stopped at the rest stop, girls to the gents and vice versa, cos all still half asleep, hahahha.. Luckily I was still alert enough to avoid that..

Some crazy people still wanted to go clubbing that night, luckily I didnt go, preferred to curl up in bed and read, and sleep... haha.. Lucky, since they came back after being refused entry into any of the clubs cos they were all too full already and they'd rather let the locals in instead of letting chinese fill the space, so there, our first real experience of discrimination here.. Luckily I didnt get to experience it firsthand.. :)

Conclusion: I <3 YORK!
