Aaah.... Young and innocent and carefree

Went out for dinner with some friends yesterday and like the old ppl we are.. we ended up chatting abt our education experiences all through primary and secondary school, hehe...

Everyone's favourite time our education time line seems to be primary school... Oh how clueless and carefree we were then, needless to say much more carefree than students these days since tuition during the early primary school days didnt seem to be an issue last time... I'm so proud to shout out that i never went for extra tuition classes all through my primary school life!

But thankgoodness i wasnt sent to a 'branded' school and instead went to an ordinary 'kampung' school as we call it... I guess i have my mum to thank for that... Imagine my shock when i heard this story from my friend who went to a 'branded' school:

Their form teacher let them sit according to their results ranking, i.e no. 1-10 sat in front followed by the teens and twenties and those who were so 'lucky' to come in the final places had to sit at an obscure corner and where the teacher wouldnt even bother to look at them!

Only the top-ten students had the teacher's attention and they were given the responsibility of looking after the bottom ten kids since the teacher never looked at them anyway.. and, if you were unlucky enough to knock any of the top-ten kids out, dont even imagine you'll be treated with respect and heaped with praises.. Instead, the teacher would be staring daggers at you and accusing you of cheating jus cause you KO-ed one off her favourite kids... and dont even mention if you only manage to maintain yr results for that one time only... If not, you'll be banished forever from the teacher's books and forever be branded a cheater...

Thank god i never ever experienced that.. Classroom politics for you huh! I cant imagine how those poor students turned out... Must be fidgety, stressed out, nervous ppl... And we wonder why the number of ppl with mental problems keeps rising...

My experience was far more enjoyable and since we spent the most time (6 years) in primary school, most of my memories are from that era too....

How we were so noisy that our teacher fled to the canteen to cry instead of teaching us :)
How we had to chant out the multiplication table during 周会。。。
How eventhough each class had almost 50 ppl and the teacher could remember everyone's names... we never get that now...
How we could go up on stage and receive nice, glittering, cheapskate plastic trophies for winning anything, hehe... Mine are soo dusty now :)
How maths and science was so simple, it makes you smile to think abt it now....
(2 x 8) +22 anyone?? :)

Aaah... those were the days..
Where o where have those stress free days gone.. Hmm....
